We blog about projects that amaze us and share the "HappyHap spirit"; i.e. spread happiness and make a positive difference in the world. We also post videos that are likely to make you smile and once in a while a mindful quote. It's a constantly evolving wall of inspiration and a tool-kit to make happiness happen everywhere!

I checked out The HappyHap Project and it seems to me that by emphasizing happiness as if it is the (one of) most important goal(s) in life, you suggest that one ought to suppress other (equally important) emotions such as sadness, melancholy and anger. Is that true?
The HappyHap Project does not mean to suggest that one ought to “strive for constant happiness” or that it “(is one of) most important goal(s) in life.” What matters most in life is for every individual to decide on his own. Rather, The HappyHap Project’s objective is to build platforms that inspire and empower people to start a dialogue (with their peers or internally with themselves) about life’s big questions.
The starting point for this dialogue that The HappyHap Project has chosen is the value of “happiness” because it is a universally shared value. Also, the question “what makes you happy?” / “what is your perspective of happiness” sparks a host of other important “big” questions about life, such as “What matters most to me?,” “What values do I cherish in life?,” “How can I align the things I do on a day-to-day basis with my understanding of what I believe in?,” “When was the last time that I felt content about myself and the world?”
In the daily hustle-and-bustle that is Yale University, we often don’t make time to thoroughly reflect on these questions, so The HappyHap Project attempts to provide platforms to bring this debate to the student body (i.e. through our photo exhibition, our publication, our website, our blog, speaker events etc.). That said, this is not the only possible starting point to spark this type of dialogue, it’s just the starting point we have chosen to focus on. Certainly, we are well aware of the fact that life consists of a multitude of emotions, both positive and negative.
I hope this answers your question. Thanks for asking!
All the best,
